The first fat-tailed dwarf lemur born at the Center in 1973 was named Jesse and he sired 28 offspring, and lived to be 21 years old. The population of dwarf lemurs at the DLC peaked in 1989 with 89 animals. There have been 232 dwarf lemurs born at the DLC, photo here of twins born in 2013.
