Six year old fat-tailed dwarf lemur Auklet thoroughly investigates a hibiscus flower, then decides that isn’t worth eating. Now covered in sticky hibiscus pollen, he has to figure out a way to get it off (or just ignore it)--truly a major summertime predicament! Speaking of summertime, Auklet and his six year old mate, Raven, were observed breeding multiple times last week. While May is peak dwarf lemur breeding season (42% of conceptions), June is not far behind with 21% of conceptions. With a 62 two day gestation, Lemur Center staff are hopeful that come July 15th, Raven will be delivering at least one adorable fat-tailed dwarf lemur infant.
