As you might remember from a late February post, blue-eyed lemurs Leigh and Murphy loved maple flowers, consuming them voraciously on first encounter. You would think that they would also love maple seeds (sifaka certainly love both seeds and flowers), but not so. I believe they wanted to love the maple seeds, they were all over them, but every mouthful seemed to wind up uneaten, spit out, and on the floor. Murphy even tried the “maybe they will taste better if I bite them from the side of my mouth” technique, but to no avail.
