The other day, our photographer journeyed to NHE 9, thinking that the local sifaka group (24.9 year old Julian, 24.8 year old Drusilla, 4 year old Aemilia and 2 year old Calpurnia) would soon be fed, at which point they would almost certainly be hopping bipedally down a grassy bank to the "covered bridge" which leads to the Aty Ala building, and their food. Sure enough, as a gentle rain started, the photographer settled down on the dry bridge and photographed the group one by one as they travelled from forest to bridge. Although sifaka generally have fairly distinctive faces, from a distance it is a bit hard to tell them apart, and looking at the obviously fantastic condition of each of these four animals it is amazing to think that the parents are each more than 20 years older than their offspring!
